Legal
Privacy Policy.
Effective May 13, 2026
ChordXray is designed with privacy as a default. Your audio never leaves your Mac — all analysis runs entirely on-device. This policy explains the narrow set of information that does pass through external systems.
What ChordXray does not collect.
Audio files, analysis results (chords, lyrics, sections, stems), usage patterns, and crash reports are never transmitted anywhere. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking on your audio. The app has no servers that touch your music.
What we do handle.
When you activate a license key, a randomly-generated machine identifier unique to your installation and your license key are sent to Polar.sh, our licensing and payment provider, to associate the activation with your purchase. Your email address is collected by Polar at the time of purchase — we do not store it on our side. You may contact us if you need a copy of your purchase record.
Third-party services.
Polar.sh processes payments and manages license keys. Their privacy practices are governed by the Polar Privacy Policy. No other third-party services receive data from ChordXray.
Data retention.
Polar retains purchase and activation records in accordance with their own policies and
applicable law. Locally, ChordXray stores only the license key and machine ID in a
SQLite database on your Mac
(~/Library/Application Support/com.giray.audioanalysis/).
You can delete this at any time by uninstalling the app.
Your rights.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data associated with your purchase. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected] or Polar directly for purchase records.
Children.
ChordXray is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
Changes to this policy.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at chordxray.com/privacy. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
