Privacy Policy.

What ChordXray does not collect.

Audio files and analysis results (chords, lyrics, sections, stems, vocal notes) are never transmitted anywhere. Nothing that identifies a song, such as a file name or a folder path, is ever sent. The app has no servers that touch your music.

Anonymous usage data.

The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, our analytics provider, hosted in the EU. Examples: an analysis finished and how long it took, a model download completed, a license was activated. Events are tied to a random identifier created when you first open the app and, once you activate a license, to your Polar customer ID. They never include audio, file names, lyrics, or chords. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Preferences → Usage data.

This website uses PostHog to count visits and clicks on the download and checkout buttons, and to record how some visits use the page (scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement, with anything typed into forms masked). When you buy, the checkout records which visit led to the purchase so we can tell which pages and links work.

What we do handle.

When you activate a license key, a randomly-generated machine identifier unique to your installation and your license key are sent to Polar.sh, our licensing and payment provider, to associate the activation with your purchase. Your email address is collected by Polar at the time of purchase — we do not store it on our side. You may contact us if you need a copy of your purchase record.

Third-party services.

Polar.sh processes payments and manages license keys. Their privacy practices are governed by the Polar Privacy Policy. PostHog receives the anonymous usage data described above, under the PostHog Privacy Policy. No other third-party services receive data from ChordXray.

Data retention.

Polar retains purchase and activation records in accordance with their own policies and applicable law. Locally, ChordXray stores only the license key and machine ID in a SQLite database on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/app.chordxray/). You can delete this at any time by uninstalling the app.

Your rights.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data associated with your purchase. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected] or Polar directly for purchase records.

Children.

ChordXray is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

Changes to this policy.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at chordxray.com/privacy. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
